Global Gathering – SE Asia: Along the Mekong River (FULL)

This Southeast Asian country traversed by the Mekong River and known for mountainous terrain, French colonial architecture, hill tribe settlements and Buddhist monasteries.

There are over 7 million living in this country, and 60% identify as Buddhists. Animism, religion, and folklore are deeply rooted in the this culture.

The people are a Tai ethnic group native to Southeast Asia. They primarily speak the a language, which belongs to the Kra–Dai language family. This people group constitute the majority ethnic group comprising 53.2% of the country's total population.
